Program Overview
The Assistant Directors Training Program is designed to provide aspiring first, second, and third assistant directors with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the fast-paced and demanding environment of the film industry. Through a combination of theoretical learning and practical exercises, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the roles and responsibilities of assistant directors on set.
Course Duration: 12 weeks

Week 1-2: Introduction to the Role of Assistant Directors
- Overview of the hierarchy and responsibilities of assistant directors
- Understanding the importance of effective communication and coordination on set
- Introduction to industry-standard software and tools used by assistant directors
Week 3-4: Pre-Production Planning
- Script breakdowns, scheduling, and creating call sheets
- Coordination with department heads and production team
- Understanding the role of the assistant director in pre-production meetings and rehearsals
Week 5-6: On-Set Protocol and Set Management
- Managing the set environment and ensuring a smooth production flow
- Working with the director, cast, and crew to execute the vision of the project
- Handling logistics, time management, and problem-solving on set
Week 7-8: Working with Actors
- Understanding the actor-director relationship
- Techniques for effective communication and collaboration with actors
- Managing actor schedules, rehearsals, and performance continuity
Week 9-10: Post-Production Processes
- Overview of the assistant director’s role in post-production
- Coordinating with editors, sound designers, and visual effects teams
- Understanding the importance of wrap reports and project completion documentation
Week 11-12: Practical Exercises and Industry Insights
- Hands-on exercises simulating real-world assistant director scenarios
- Guest lectures from industry professionals sharing insights and best practices
- Final project: creating a comprehensive production plan for a short film or scene
